CT reduces the number of iterations in the process of creating molds and reduces the time for first article inspection dramatically. Every iteration for a compensation loop of the mold is very costly. Between 2 and 5 cycles are needed to produce parts in tolerance, and every cycle takes round about 2 weeks.
•The number of iterations and duration of every iteration can be reduced to gain a valuable competitive advantage,
reduce scrap and get to market faster
During a first article inspection the main task is to analyse deviation and compensate them. VGSTUDIO MAX can export compensated information of the part. Chose if you want to export single points, sections or complete compensated surfaces including the shrinkage information. This compensated information can be imported into VISI as starting point for the mold correction. You can even export a complete and compensated mesh to use the target driven deformation inside of Visi. This workflow is flexible and superior than working with single point measurements, as always the full geometry can be taken into consideration.
In a CT scan even hidden features can be measured, and there is no need for timeconsuming cutting of the part. The automated measurement plans are available for every iteration, saving a lot of inspection time. Using PMI (product manufacturing information) from CAD will also speed up the process because these informations are translated directly into a measurement plan in VGSTUDIO MAX. The unique and patented „adaptive measurement template“ enables you to even measure warped and distorted parts properly, withoit costly manual post processing
Having to deal with the correction of multi cavity molds, VGSTUDIO MAX offers the capabilty to combine the surface position of multiple parts into one single „golden“ surface. Using this surface for the compensation is also an advantage in this process.
