Analyses

Volume data captures an object in its entirety, with all the information on materials and geometries it contains. VGStudio MAX is the only software solution world-wide allowing volume datasets to be analyzed entirely on the basis of voxels. There are several analysis add-on modules available for this purpose.

The Porosity/Inclusion Analysis add-on module allows material defects such as blowholes or bubbles in castings to be detected and analyzed. The entire volume data is analyzed in 3D, pores or inclusions are detected irrespective of their absolute grey value and, in a further step, subjected to a plausibility check. Algorithms are available to handle typical CT artefacts such as ring or beam artefacts which are very similer to defects in their grey value distribution. VGStudio MAX does not necessarily require a fixed threshold value for the detection of porosity or inclusions.

The Wall Thickness Analysis add-on module calculates wall thicknesses within a component at the push of a button. It is only with VGStudio MAX that this analysis can be performed directly on the precisely determined surface of the voxel object, without the loss of accuracy caused by converting data into a surface model.

The Actual/Nominal Comparison add-on module determines under- and oversize at every point of the component surface: Only with VGStudio MAX can voxel and CAD data be compared within one software environment and the deviations be visualized and colour-coded in 3D. Due to the highly precise surface determination within the voxel dataset, VGStudio MAX is the only software solution world-wide that provides such accurate results. 

Comprehensive reporting features are available to the user for all analysis add-on modules. Analysis results can automatically be output as a report (PDF, CSV), and images of selected analysis results within a report can also be generated automatically.
