VGStudio MAX

Automation

From Release 2.1 onwards, VGStudio MAX provides macro functionality for the automation of operating processes. The creation of macros is supported by all optional modules of the software, allowing wall thickness analyses as well as nominal/actual comparisons, porosity analyses or the entire coordinate measuring  functionality including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing according to ISO 1101 to be automated.

This is especially time-saving if a large number of identical objects such as injection-molded parts have to be measured. The quality inspector would first capture the data of one sample and create an inspection plan - if a CAD model of the part exists, the inspection plan can be created beforehand. A new part is then superimposed on the sample part, correctly aligned and the inspection plan is copied. This procedure is saved as a macro. For all further parts you'll only have to activate the macro - there is no need for a measuring technician to be present any more. The results are output as a CSV table or as PDF files with an image of the respective part. Measurements which are outside the tolerance are highlighted for every inspected part.

Together with the VG Project SDK interface provided free of charge to producers of CT systems for integration into their system software, this macro functionality has laid the foundation for the integration of computer tomography into the production line.
