In the past, Delphi used section images to create first article inspection reports of plastic connectors and then analyzed these using projectors. At that time, 75 man-hours were needed for first article inspection. By introducing a CT system and VGStudio MAX as a measuring technology, the processing time could be reduced to 12 hours using measuring templates. It is important to point out that measuring accuracy was improved by using this technology and that a further time-saving of 50% can be achieved by using macros and batch processing as implemented in VGStudio MAX 2.1.
In addition, all measurements including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing are now available to Delphi during every step of optimization in addition to the entire material properties (distribution of pores etc.) of the connector.
